Arthur Hartmann is a doctor in law and sociologist with a wide background in research and publications in the fields of criminal law, criminal procedural law, and criminology. His academic career started as responsible researcher for the evaluation of two model projects for victim-offender-mediation. He also wrote his doctoral theses on this topic. With his habilitation thesis he became engaged in research about organized crime. He was a co-founder of the German Nationwide Victim-Offender-Mediation-Statistics, which he is still chairing. Throughout his academic career he has contributed to a vast number of local, national and international research projects.
