The interdisciplinary Institute for Police and Security Research (IPoS) at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration (HfÖV) focuses its research on the topics of democracy and the rule of law. It has renowned expertise in the fields of security, police, justice and extremism research as well as digitalisation.
On this basis, the institute and its staff are continuously involved in relevant national and international projects. In addition to fundamental specialist disciplines such as law, legal psychology, criminal sociology and criminology, modern fields of research such as computational social science, open source intelligence or cybercrime also characterise the future-oriented understanding of security and the way the IPoS works.
