Since 2006, University for Public Administration Bremen (HfÖV) is operating the Institute of Police and Security Research (IPoS): Statute of the Institute of Police and Security Research IPoS at the University of Public Administration Bremen, amended 16 May 2013.

The IPoS focuses its research on the topics of democracy and the rule of law. It has renowned expertise in the fields of security, police, justice and extremism research as well as digitalization. On this basis, the Institute and its staff are continuously involved in relevant national and international projects.

In addition to fundamental disciplines such as law, legal psychology and criminology, modern fields of research such as computational social science, open source intelligence and cybercrime also shape the future-oriented understanding of security and the way IPoS works.

In addition to research, the IPoS supports the networking of relevant stakeholders and the dissemination of knowledge through seminars and workshops.
